Good morning, Internet, and welcome to the last day of May! This month really flew by, and here in Ontario, we’ve literally gone from snow to sweltering heat in less than four weeks. One of my goals for this month was to create my 30 Before 30 list. It’s essentially just a list of goals I’m hoping to accomplish by the time I’m 30.
Many bloggers, I’ve noticed, write their lists in their late twenties. But because I’m a keener, I think it’s always best to get a head start! So without further ado, I present to you my 30 Before 30:
1. Bake a cake
Surprisingly, something I’ve never done. It’s probably time for that now.
2. Become a vegetarian (for a month)
I’ve got some strong family and friend vegetarian influences in my life, and I’ve always wondered how I’d fare on a vegetarian diet. I’m not trying to save the planet just yet, though.
3. Buy tickets to a concert for an artist I love
4. Complete the Sims Legacy Challenge
5. Create a 5 year career plan (at some point)
6. Do karaoke
It’s important to note that I’m not a big drinker, at all, in the slightest. So this is a lot more terrifying than it sounds.
7. Early morning yoga on a beach
Thus implying that I’m on a beach in the early morning. 😉
8. Earn the Earth Fitbit Lifetime Steps badge
That’s about 2.7 miles per day from now until I turn 30, which is only 6800 steps per day! Which, unfortunately, is more than I’m averaging right now. Stretch goal, I suppose.
9. Frame my diploma
It’s been a year and I still haven’t taken my diploma out of the cardboard tube. At this rate, it will definitely take me seven and a half years to frame the darn thing.
10. Get a mani/pedi
Now that I’ve quit biting my nails, they’re finally worth pampering!
11. Get married
12. Go skiing (i.e. not on a sixth grade school trip)
13. Go to Sephora and buy something
14. Have 1000 blog followers
15. Host a dinner party
16. Knit a sweater
I mentioned this one in my goals for the year, so hopefully I’ll be able to take on the challenge! Though considering I haven’t picked up my knitting needles since the holidays, the odds aren’t looking so good…
17. Live somewhere with 2 or more bathrooms
This is pretty arbitrary, but rather than saying I want to own/rent a house/townhouse/condo/cabin/whatever, I’m using this as a benchmark of improvement in my quality of life. Plus, I need more bathroom counter space.
18. Own a suit
As I mentioned in this post, I’m surrounded by people that have owned suits since their first year of undergrad. I’ve never needed to own a suit, but I figure that by the time I’m thirty, it might be a necessity.
19. Prepare a dish made entirely from homegrown ingredients
20. Read War and Peace
21. Run a 5k
This is less of a fitness goal and more of a self-confidence goal, but it definitely serves both purposes.
22. Save a down payment
With the housing market in the GTA the way it is, saving enough for a down payment probably won’t mean being able to afford a property (that I actually want to live in). But the bigger the financial foundation, the better.
23. Take a course in something
24. Throw a party
25. Tour a working observatory (preferably in Hawaii)
26. Travel on a plane alone
Airports terrify me, but I’ll need to conquer that fear someday. Why not as a twenty-something?
27. Travel to the UK
28. Visit the East Coast
29. Visit the West Coast
30. Write a book (that I actually like)
As in, not an “under the bed book”.
So that’s it: my 30 Before 30 list! I’ll post updates as I check things off the list.
